If you are thinking about getting engaged, this is for you. If you plan to be married at Christ's Place, pre-engagement counseling must be completed prior to your wedding. It is most effective to help couples assess their relationship before they have made a formal commitment to marry, so pre-engagement, instead of pre-marital, counseling is offered at Christ's Place.
It is designed to help couples seriously considering marriage in the following ways:
- Provide information about areas of significance in marriage (roles, spirituality, finances, sexuality and communication).
- To give each couple additional perspective from testing and interviews that is intended to further their own exploration of the relationship honestly and informedly.
- To gather wisdom from pastoral staff as they help assess the preparation of the relationship for marriage.
Pre-engagement counseling will involve you in the following confidential process:
- Providing written personal and family background information
- Completing a personality inventory for self and partner.
- Interacting as a couple with an overseeing pastor in two counseling sessions.
- Attending group sessions with other couples also in pre-engagemen; complete required reading.
- Reading some outstanding literature on building a strong marriage.
