Our credibililty as believers is rooted in service and that happens on the street, in neighborhoods, across the city. Service is something the community needs, God desires and the church has the capacity to do. As we look at the life of Christ, the good news was always accompanied by good deeds. Jesus didn't just go around telling stories and teaching people stuff. He demonstrated the things He spoke of when He healed, performed miracles, loved the unloveable and served the people around Him. The gospel is show AND tell. Through witnessing selfless demonstrations of love and acts of service, people in Lincoln may believe that the church just might have something worth listening to. The series will incorporate service projects for community groups, an all church Day to Serve and a special featured project called, Stretch-the-Benjamin, that will go throughout the series. The series will begin September 9 and go through November 4. It will include Missions Convention as a part of the series as we explore what it means to be missional throughout the world: The Global Heart of a Missional Church. A 4-week small group study will be made available and all community groups will be encouraged to go through it along with the series. If you aren't already in a group, now is the time to try one! We are expecting great things, praying for great things and believing that God is going to use each of us and Christ's Place in a powerful way in our community.
